How do we define cultures? No boundaries and hard to visualize…you can clearly feel its presence.

Societies evolve and cultures form; like the blood in our bodies, their movement is always clearly routed.  Most of us choose the given path and make countless life choices without reservations; thus we have become part of a culture or heritage.  At any given moment in human history, there are always people who challenge what was passed down; they question the limitations and dare to think beyond the existing narratives becasue they just want to be themselves. They are born to create, injecting new DNAs while raising the bar or setting new benchmarks. Cultures are no longer just about the past as we live in the present; they evolve because we are free to think differently everyday.  The world is better when humanity understands we change the world and the world is changed because of us.

Cultures could make us the same type of people.
Ability to reflect would make us an unique soul.
Ultimately, the world is more colourful when all unique souls are embraced.

About The Artist / Jessica Sung

My time with TAIWANfest has contributed a lot to my growth as an artist, including teaching me to think independently and freely through art. This work, for me, is an opportunity and a challenge.

Every day, I come across many, many sources of information. All of these constant news articles and information give us nothing tangible to hold onto, yet society demands that you learn as much as you can. What do you actually need? What is it that you really have? What, then, truly belongs to you?

Art, the process of creating, is my way of expressing myself, the reality that I see, and the cultural arts that are uniquely my own.

About The Artist / Toy Su

His signature shape is the triangle, and going to space and soaring through the stars is one of his “Mission Impossible”goals.

An eccentric, handsome, shy, fun-loving, and pragmatic visual designer who cares for small animals, and loves breakfast stalls in Taiwan… This is his everyday routine,  and also the “role” that he strives to play. Connecting to Canada through an internship opportunity, everytime he comes to Canada, the challenges get harder and more challenging!

He was born in Taiwan, however his challenges in life only accumulated in Canada, and each one of them are unforgettable. This sense of accomplishment and involvement gives him a greater source of storytelling and creativity than other creators, and he hopes to influence more people who share the same passion and to make interesting things have a deeper meaning.
